A Word from the Word -December

Matthew 16:23  Jesus said to Peter, “For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”  ESV Study Bible

Reflective Question

Jesus said I need to set my mind on the things of God.  Where is my mind set?

“Setting”, from the Greek Word Phroneo, G5424:  “In the scriptures it is most commonly applied to the action of the will and affections, set your affections on.”  Word Studies in the New Testament, Zodhiates.

From the Bromiley Theological Dictionary of the New Testament:  “In Matthew 16:23 Jesus sharply rebukes Peter; he can grasp only human thoughts with a focus on earthly life.”

Quote

“Prayer is one of the greatest opportunities, one of the greatest privileges, and one of the greatest ministries available to all Christians.”  Derek Prince.
