A Word from the Word - August

Three Significant S’s

2 Chronicles 26:4-6    Uzziah set himself to seek God and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.  E.S.V.

 

The 3 S’s..... SET, SEEK , SOUGHT   We need these 3 S’s in our lives.

 

         1.         SET - purpose, determination, carrying out

         2.         SEEK - to process, to put forth the effort, not being derailed

         3.         SOUGHT - to promise, to keep on seeking

 

...then God made him to prosper

 

We need a plan of action to follow.  It has to be simple if we are going to stick with it.  Start with the basics.

 

         1.         A time and place where I will meet God.

         2.         Pray, asking God’s blessing on this time.

         3.         Bible reading that includes:

                  a.  Memorizing a verse that speaks to you.        

                  b.  Meditating on the verse during the day for a week or month

         4.           Prayer with can include gratefulness, family, self and others and

                  God’s wisdom and guidance for the day.

 

One thing necessary for the 3 S’s to be a part of my life is discipline.

The neglect of this principle is why so many believers are weak and fruitless says Andrew Murray.  “It is the lack of private prayer, the neglect of maintaining our hidden spiritual life rooted in Christ, ‘rooted and grounded in love’ “ (Eph. 3:17)
